Russia launches attacks on Kyiv and Odessa, Ukraine says

Russia unleashed a drone attack on Ukraine targeting the capital Kyiv and hitting infrastructure in the Black Sea port of Odessa, Ukrainian officials said Sunday.
The assault kept much of Ukraine under air-raid alert for several hours, the officials said.
The Ukrainian military shot down 56 out of at least 87 drones launched by Russia over various regions of the country, the air force said.
“The enemy once again used its drones against Kyiv,” Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said in a post on Telegram. “Russian drones entered the capital of Ukraine in several waves and from different directions.”
The State Emergency Service said one person was wounded and warehouses and cargo trucks were damaged in Odessa during the multi-wave attack.
Oleksandr Prokudin, governor of the southern region of Kherson, said Sunday on Telegram that one civilian had died and 15 were injured in Russia’s attacks on the region in the past 24 hours, Reuters reported.
The Russian attacks came a day after Ukrainian forces said a Russian fighter aircraft was downed in the Donetsk region. The incident took place near the city of Kostiantynivka, the head of the city’s military administration, Serhiy Horbunov, was quoted as saying by Ukraine’s public broadcaster, Suspilne.
